Piano

Tyler Bullock

Tyler Bullock is a pianist raised in Nashville and now living in New York. He graduated from Juilliard in 2025, capping a formal education with the kind of degree that opens doors in the city's competitive scene.

He plays piano in the Roy Hargrove Big Band, a role that connects him directly to one of the great lineages in modern jazz. In 2024 he was selected for Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead, a program built specifically to develop the next generation of bandleaders and composers. Since then he has been leading his own trios in some of New York's most respected small rooms: Smalls, the Jazz Gallery, and Ornithology.

Bullock's path traces a familiar but demanding arc, big-band sideman work that pays the historical debts of the music, paired with original trio leadership that stakes out his own ground. He is still early in that second chapter, and the rooms he plays in are the ones where New York's next generation of pianists have always been made.
